Dear Broker
At Aviva we are always working to deliver products and solutions that make life easier for you and your customers.
Feedback from our brokers indicates that some customers prefer to spread the cost of their insurance policies over several months and you may have agreements in place with finance house providers to facilitate this. Up until now we were not able to support cancellation of these policies and therefore you could not place “financed” policies with us, but now we can.
What’s changing?
We have updated our process for Private Motor (MY/MR/MP) and Home Insurance (HY) policies only and we are now able to issue a 10-day cancellation letter for Private Motor Insurance and a 14-day cancellation letter for Home Insurance, when requested by our brokers, where there is a payment default on the customer’s insurance payment plan with their Finance Provider. Please remember to fully explain the consequences of the payment default with the customer.
The issue of this letter is subject to the terms and conditions of the credit agreement, allowing you, as the customer’s intermediary, the right to do this. If you are unsure, please check with your finance house for confirmation and be sure to outline the consequences of payment default with your customers.
How will the process work?
- Email our team at PI.Cancellation@Aviva.com with the following information:
- Policy number
- Name
- Address
- Noting cancellation reason as “Payment Default on Payment Plan”
- The team will issue the required cancellation letter to the customer (see a copy of the Private Motor letter HERE).
- We will send you a copy of the cancellation letter.
- If the customer does not pay the arrears and cancellation is required:
- FCEDI Private Motor Policies – You, as the customer’s intermediary, must cancel the policy through EDI.
- Cancellation cannot be processed earlier than the date noted on cancellation letter.
- Non-FCEDI Private Motor and Home Policies - Aviva will cancel the policy from the date indicated in the cancellation letter.
- If the customer pays their arrears before the cancellation date, please call Aviva on 1800 666 555 to halt cancellation proceedings.
Thank you for your support
Thank you for your continued support and for your feedback to date. We will continue to find ways to make it easier to do business with Aviva and we hope that this change to our Home and Motor cancellations will make the process smoother for you and your customers. If you have any questions about this change, please contact your Business Development Manager.
Yours sincerely
