Dear Broker
I am writing in relation to the Consumer Insurance Contracts Act 2019 (CICA) and the additional requirements which come into effect from 1 September 2021. This legislation is designed to provide increased protection for our consumers and will apply to the September renewals you receive from early July and to new business incepted by you with Aviva from 1 September 2021.
Our Guide to CICA
To help navigate these new requirements, we have written a comprehensive Guide to CICA, which outlines some of the important changes brought about by CICA and details your responsibilities as an intermediary of Aviva products. We hope that this will save you time and make it easier for you to understand the changes made to our systems, processes, and documentation to comply with the requirements of CICA. Please read this Guide carefully and make sure that you and your staff comply with the changes and requirements outlined.
Click here to view the Guide. (Please note that the Guide should not be read as legal advice or as an exhaustive list of the changes brought about by CICA.) We will provide further updates and clarification as required.
CICA Hub on Aviva Broker
We have set up a CICA Hub on the Aviva Broker website where you can access and download all our updated customer documentation. You can access the CICA Hub here.
Updates to Policy Booklets and other Documents
The Document Matrix attached here outlines the scheduled dates from which all documents including soft copy and printed copy policy booklets will be available under each product line.
Please note the contact to obtain a supply of printed policy booklets remains the same, through our supplier Paragon, email Len Wilson leonard.p.wilson@paragon-cc.ie.
Download the Applied Systems Home Release on July 20th
In relation to New Business, Applied Systems are releasing the CICA Home changes as part of their 7.1 release to brokers on July 20th. Make sure to download this release as soon as it is available, as you will not be able arrange cover with Aviva Homechoice until you have downloaded it.
Terms of Business Agreement
It will be necessary for us to update our Broker Terms of Business Agreements to incorporate any changes brought about by CICA, we are in the process of updating these agreements and will be in contact with you at a later date with an updated agreement.
CICA Support
If you have any questions about the CICA legislation or your obligations as outlined in our Guide, please contact your Aviva BDM, who will be happy to help.
Thank you for your support with this important legislation.
Kind regards,
 Stephen McGerr Sales Director
