Dear Broker

I hope you are keeping well.

I am writing to let you know about some important updates in relation to:

  • Van and Commercial Motor
  • Private Motor – new minimum premium
  • General Insurance Teams - new contact details

Commercial Motor and Van CICA Update

We sent you our ‘Consumer Insurance Contract Act – A Guide for Brokers’ document in July 2021 to keep you up to date on the CICA legislation, and the additional requirements which came into effect in September 2021. Following on from this, we wish to advise you that, from the January 2022 renewals onwards, the static renewal Statement of Fact will be replaced with an automated renewal Statement of Fact, and this will be issued as part of the overall renewal pack for the following products only:

  • Commercial Motor, Carriage of Own Goods policies - (policy prefix MV)
  • Van policies (started after 06/07/2010) - (policy prefix MZ)

Please note that you will still need to download the Commercial Motor static renewal Statement of Fact for all other Commercial Motor policies (MV) and for Van policies (MZ) that were started before 06/07/2010. This means that if a Statement of Fact is not included in the renewal pack, the static Statement of Fact should be downloaded and issued, as well as those products as outlined in our CICA Guide. You can view the CICA Guide here on our CICA Hub:

New Commercial Motor Proposal Form

We have also created a new Commercial Motor Proposal Form, which should be used specifically for the ‘Carriage of Own Goods’ vehicles. This is available on Avivabroker.ie, click here and is titled ‘Commercial Motor (Carriage of Own Goods only) proposal’. The current Commercial Motor Proposal Form should still be used for special type vehicles, i.e., haulage and agricultural and the current Van Proposal Form will continue for those risks within the Van acceptance criteria.

Change to Private Motor Minimum Premium

The minimum annual premium for our Private Motor policies (product prefixes MY, MR), has been amended from €280 to €310, inclusive of Government levy and Insurance Compensation Fund (ICF). This new minimum premium will apply to new and renewal business from 1 January 2022.

Changes to 1850 & 1890 Numbers

In line with ComReg changes, we are changing our 1850 and 1890 phone numbers. For our updated general insurance contact sheet with the new numbers - click here.
