Following on from my update last week that Sean Boyle will be leaving Aviva in January, I’m happy to confirm that Steve McGerr has been appointed as Director of Broker Sales & Distribution (Intermediaries & Partners).

Steve has over nineteen years’ insurance management experience in claims, commercial underwriting, distribution, regional management and commercial digital. Steve managed a number of offices for Hiscox, including Dublin and Leeds. He also led a digital commercial e-trading business based in York. Steve is an experienced leader and strategist with strong distribution and digital experience.

Steve was instrumental in opening the Hiscox branch in Dublin in 2012 and is well known to many brokers operating in Commercial Lines in Ireland and is an experienced senior sales and broker distribution leader with strong business acumen and track record. Steve will play a key role in developing and driving our ambitious growth strategy for the broker market and in enhancing relationships with you.

Steve, who will report to me and join the GI Executive Team, will join us in March 2021. Sean has agreed to work with Steve in the new year to ensure an orderly handover.

Please join me in welcoming Steve to the team and wishing him well in his role. I’d also like to once again wish Sean every happiness in his new future.
