Aviva Ireland to enter the Financial Lines market in January 2021
Dear Broker,
I am delighted to have this opportunity to communicate with you as the new Interim CEO of Aviva. Both Aviva and its predecessor Hibernian are companies I always admired for their brands, products, distribution and people. It is also great be part of the history of the company with the most substantial heritage in the Irish insurance market.
Since I commenced my role on 31 August, I have been busy on Microsoft Teams getting to know the Aviva team. Together, we have been looking for opportunities to support our broker partners and provide Aviva with profitable growth.
Today, we are announcing that Aviva Ireland will enter the Financial Lines market for January 2021 renewals, and we have appointed Simon Quinn as Head of Financial Lines.
Simon joins from Aviva UK in London where he is Head of Professional Indemnity (PI) underwriting. He previously held senior Financial Lines roles at QBE in both Dublin and London. Simon has also led the AIG Ireland PI team in Dublin, where he underwrote many of the largest solicitors, accountants, construction projects, engineers and miscellaneous professions in Ireland. Simon will report to our Chief Underwriting officer, Brian Mahon and will lead, develop and implement our Financial Lines strategy.
Sean Boyle and his team will be contacting you to explain our plans for this market, including our targeted products and segments. They will also obtain further feedback from you on your requirements across the different segments of Financial Lines. Sean and the entire Aviva team will continue to support you and your clients while Covid-19 and its impacts remain a significant challenge.
Finally, I look forward to meeting you in person when it is safe for us to do so. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me directly if you have any queries, and please take the time to welcome Simon home.
