Aviva Insurance Ireland Appointment of New Interim CEO

During this challenging period, we have continued to keep you updated on relevant business issues and developments through virtual meetings, webinars and other forms of online communications. We will continue to support you and your clients as we continue the process of exiting from this health and economic crisis.

We would like to update you on senior management changes in Aviva Insurance Ireland DAC (Aviva Insurance Ireland). We are pleased to announce the appointment of Declan O’Rourke as Interim Chief Executive Officer of Aviva Insurance Ireland, subject to regulatory approvals. Declan will take up his role on 1 September.

Declan was previously General Manager at AIG Ireland, a role he held for eight years until June 2020. He worked for AIG for 26 years and held a number of senior management roles both in Ireland and internationally. These included responsibility for finance, distribution and commercial lines. He is a qualified chartered accountant, having trained with Coopers & Lybrand, now PwC.  Declan’s wealth of experience, in-depth knowledge of the Irish general insurance market, strong business acumen and proven background in delivering successful change for customers and brokers will greatly assist Aviva’s general insurance business.

Declan O’ Rourke said: “I am very excited to be joining Aviva Insurance Ireland and becoming part of the company with the most substantial heritage in the Irish insurance market. I have always received very positive feedback about working at Aviva from both current and former employees. I look forward to experiencing this myself by getting to know the team and starting a new and exciting challenge. I believe we are well prepared to address the changing and challenging market landscape in 2020 and beyond and I look forward to meeting and working closely with you our Brokers from September.”
