I am writing with updates that apply to our commercial property and liability insurance products detailed below.  

Application of Sanctions Exclusion

Aviva’s obligations to comply with EU legislation on Financial Sanctions strictly prohibits us from engaging in business with a sanctioned individual or entity. Sanctions are restrictive measures imposed on individuals, entities or geographic areas in an effort to stop their activities. Various statutory instruments make it a criminal offence to breach financial sanctions and are subject to financial penalties.

A Sanctions Exclusion is now being applied as standard on the following commercial insurance products:

Aviva Trademark, Apartment Block, Pub, Property Owners, Retail Warehouse, Farm, Shop, Office, Self Build (New House) and Self Build (Extension).

Note that this exclusion will also be applied to our Fast Trade product set in the coming months.

Business Interruption Extensions Updates

We are also updating our Business Interruption cover extensions on the following commercial insurance products – Trademark, Apartment Block, Pub, Property Owners and Retail Warehouse.

List of Business Interruption extensions – (i) Suppliers Customers and Property Stored (ii) Contract Sites (iii) Prevention of Access (iv) Public Utilities (v) Transit and (vi) Loss of Attraction.

Details will be included in the relevant Notice to Policyholders documents on the Aviva Broker Hub. An example of the Trademark Notice to Policyholder is attached HERE.

Note that these updates will also be applied to our Shop, Office and Fast Trade products in the coming months.

Effective dates for these changes

These updates apply with immediate effect for quotes and new business and from January 2024 renewals onwards for existing business.
